Urso 100 is a medication containing ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), used to treat liver and biliary tract diseases, including conditions associated with cholestasis and gallstone formation.
Indications for Use:
- Cholesterol Gallstones:
- Dissolution of cholesterol gallstones in the gallbladder and common bile duct in patients with functioning gallbladders.
- Chronic Cholecystitis and Cholangitis:
- Management of these conditions when associated with cholestasis.
- Biliary Dyskinesia:
- For improving bile flow and reducing symptoms associated with biliary tract dysfunction.
- Prevention of Liver Damage:
- Used during cytostatic therapy to prevent hepatotoxicity.
Contraindications:
- Acute Inflammatory Conditions:
- Acute cholecystitis or cholangitis.
- Advanced Liver Disease:
- Cirrhosis in the decompensation stage.
- Acute Intestinal Disorders:
- Acute enteritis or colitis.
- Severe Organ Dysfunction:
- Significant impairment of kidney, liver, or pancreas function.
Side Effects:
- Gastrointestinal System:
- Nausea, epigastric pain, constipation.
- Skin Reactions:
- Pruritus (itching); rarely, rash.
Special Instructions:
- Monitoring Liver Function:
- Monthly monitoring of liver enzymes (e.g., AST, ALT, GGT) during therapy is recommended to assess for hepatic function and response to treatment.
- Post-Stone Dissolution Therapy:
- Continue therapy for several months after gallstone dissolution to reduce the risk of recurrence.
