Dosage form

 Tablets for oral administration.
Each tablet contains 300 mg tenofovir and 200 mg emtricitabine.

Active ingredient

 Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (300 mg) and emtricitabine (200 mg). 

Dosage

For the treatment of HIV-1 infection: 1 tablet once daily.
For pre-exposure prophylaxis of HIV: 1 tablet daily.


Indications for Use

  • Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older as part of combination antiretroviral therapy.
  • Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP): Reducing the risk of HIV infection in individuals at high risk of exposure.

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to tenofovir, emtricitabine, or any excipients of the product.
  • Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min).
  • Concurrent use with other antiretroviral drugs containing tenofovir or emtricitabine.

Adverse Effects

Common:

  • Headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, rash.

Rare:

  • Lactic acidosis, hepatic steatosis, osteoporosis, renal impairment.

Very rare:

  • Rhabdomyolysis, pancreatitis, allergic reactions (facial swelling, rash).

Recommendations for Use

Administration:

  • Take the tablet orally with sufficient water, preferably with food.

Precautions:

  • Conduct HIV testing before initiating therapy.
  • Regularly monitor renal function, viral load, and bone metabolism markers during treatment.
  • Avoid concurrent use with nephrotoxic drugs.

Special Instructions:

  • This medication does not provide complete protection against HIV infection. Use additional barrier contraception methods.
  • If symptoms of lactic acidosis occur (e.g., weakness, abdominal pain, shortness of breath), seek medical attention immediately.
  • The medication is not intended for use in children under 12 years of age.
