Active ingredient
Alprostadil alfadex is a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin E₁, which has vasodilating and antiplatelet properties, improves microcirculation and promotes healing of ulcerative skin lesions.
Dosage
For adults:
- After cleaning and disinfecting the affected area, apply a thin layer of ointment directly to the ulcer or to a sterile gauze bandage, then apply to the affected area.
- Repeat the procedure 2 times a day.
Duration of treatment: depends on the severity and nature of the lesion; it is recommended to continue treatment until the ulcer is completely healed or as directed by a doctor.
Prostandin Oil 0.003% is a topical preparation containing alprostadil alfadex (an alpha-cyclodextrin complex of alprostadil), a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin E₁. It is used for the treatment of various types of skin ulcers, including pressure sores, burns, diabetic ulcers, and trophic ulcers.
Indications for Use:
- Pressure Sores (Pressure Ulcers).
- Skin Ulcers of Various Etiologies:
- Burn ulcers.
- Diabetic ulcers.
- Trophic ulcers.
Contraindications:
- Known hypersensitivity to alprostadil or any components of the drug.
- Conditions associated with an increased risk of bleeding, such as active bleeding or a predisposition to bleeding.
- Severe heart failure.
Side Effects:
- Local Reactions:
- Pain, irritation, burning, or itching at the site of application.
- Allergic Reactions:
- Skin rash, urticaria (hives).
- Systemic Effects (Rare):
- Headache, dizziness, decreased blood pressure.
Special Instructions:
- Pregnancy and Lactation:
- Use only if absolutely necessary and under strict medical supervision.
- Pediatric Use:
- The safety and efficacy in children have not been established.
- Drug Interactions:
- Caution is required when used concurrently with anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents, as the risk of bleeding may increase.
