Active ingredient
Rabeprazole sodium is a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach by specifically inhibiting H⁺/K⁺-ATPase on the secretory surface of the parietal cells of the stomach.
Dosage
Adults:
- GERD: 20 mg 1 time per day for 4-8 weeks.
- Peptic ulcer disease: 20 mg 1 time per day for 4-6 weeks.
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: the initial dose is 60 mg 1 time per day; then the dosage is selected individually.
- H. pylori eradication: 20 mg 2 times a day in combination with antibiotics as prescribed by a doctor.
Method of application: tablets are taken orally, without chewing, with a sufficient amount of water. Mealtime does not affect the effectiveness of the drug, however, it is recommended to take tablets in the morning before meals to increase the effectiveness of treatment.
Pariet is the trade name of a drug containing rabeprazole sodium, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce gastric acid secretion.
Indications for Use:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD):
- Treatment of erosive or ulcerative forms.
- Maintenance therapy after healing.
- Peptic Ulcer Disease:
- Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers in the acute stage.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome:
- Management of pathological hypersecretion conditions.
- Eradication of Helicobacter pylori:
- As part of combination therapy with antibacterial agents.
Contraindications:
- Known hypersensitivity to rabeprazole, substituted benzimidazoles, or any components of the drug.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Use is contraindicated.
- Pediatric Use: Not recommended for children under 12 years, as safety and efficacy have not been established.
Side Effects:
- Digestive System:
- Abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
- Flatulence, constipation, dry mouth.
- Nervous System:
- Headache, dizziness, insomnia, drowsiness.
- Allergic Reactions:
- Skin rash, pruritus (itching), urticaria (hives).
- Other:
- Asthenia (weakness), myalgia (muscle pain).
- Elevated liver enzyme levels.
Special Instructions:
- Exclusion of Gastric Malignancies:
- Before initiating therapy, ensure that malignant neoplasms of the stomach are ruled out, as treatment may mask symptoms and delay diagnosis.
- Severe Liver Failure:
- Use with caution. Regular monitoring of liver function is recommended.
- Long-Term Therapy:
- For prolonged use (more than one year), regular medical supervision is necessary.
- Drug Interactions:
- Rabeprazole may alter the absorption of medications whose bioavailability depends on gastric pH.
