Mucosta is the trade name of a medication containing rebamipide. It is used to treat gastrointestinal disorders associated with mucosal damage.
Indications for Use:
- Peptic Ulcer Disease:
- Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers.
- Gastritis:
- Erosive gastritis and inflammation of the gastric mucosa.
- NSAID-Induced Gastric Mucosal Damage:
- Prevention and treatment of gastric mucosal injury caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Contraindications:
- Known hypersensitivity to rebamipide or any components of the drug.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
- Use only under strict medical indications and supervision.
- Pediatric Use:
- Safety and efficacy in children have not been established.
Side Effects:
- Digestive System:
- Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
- Abdominal pain, bloating.
- Nervous System:
- Headache, drowsiness, dizziness.
- Allergic Reactions:
- Skin rash, pruritus (itching), urticaria (hives).
- Other:
- Elevated liver enzymes.
- Leukopenia (reduced white blood cell count).
Special Instructions:
- Liver and Kidney Function:
- Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney dysfunction. Regular monitoring of these organs is recommended during treatment.
- Drug Interactions:
- Rebamipide may interact with other medications. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are currently taking before starting treatment.
- Pregnancy and Lactation:
- Use only if absolutely necessary and under the supervision of a healthcare provider.
- Consultation Recommended:
- Before initiating treatment with Mucosta, consult a physician to determine the appropriateness of therapy and select the optimal dosage. Self-medication is strongly discouraged and may result in adverse outcomes.
- Tablets for oral use, dosage 100 mg.
- Tablets are biconvex, white or almost white.
- The drug can also be produced in the form of granules and eye suspension (design depending on the indications), but in this case we are talking about the oral form - tablets.
