Active ingredient
Methylcobalamin is a coenzyme form of vitamin B₁₂ involved in the synthesis of proteins, nucleic acids, and metabolism of lipids and carbohydrates.
Dosage
- Adults: usually administered 500 mcg (1 ampoule) intramuscularly or subcutaneously once daily.
- Course of treatment: depends on the severity of the disease and the patient's response to therapy; usually 2 weeks.
- Children: dosage is determined individually, depending on age and body weight.
Methycobal is a medication containing methylcobalamin, the active coenzyme form of vitamin B₁₂. It is used for the treatment of neurological and hematological disorders associated with vitamin B₁₂ deficiency.
Indications for Use:
- Neurological Disorders:
- Peripheral neuropathy.
- Diabetic neuropathy.
- Trigeminal neuralgia.
- Hematological Disorders:
- Megaloblastic anemia caused by vitamin B₁₂ deficiency.
- Other Conditions:
- Liver diseases.
- Pancreatitis.
- Dystrophic conditions in children.
- Down syndrome.
- Cerebral palsy.
Contraindications:
- Known hypersensitivity to methylcobalamin or any components of the drug.
- Erythremia, erythrocytosis, or thromboembolism.
- Pregnancy and Lactation: Use only under strict medical supervision when clearly indicated.
Side Effects:

- Skin rash, pruritus (itching), urticaria (hives).
- Cardiovascular System:
- Tachycardia, chest pain (pain in the heart area).
