Active ingredient
Mecobalamin is a coenzyme form of vitamin B₁₂, involved in the synthesis of methionine and nucleic acids, as well as in the metabolism of folate.
Dosage
- Adults: usually administered 0.5 mg (1 ampoule) intramuscularly or intravenously once daily.
- Course of treatment: depends on the severity of the disease and the patient's response to therapy; may be from several weeks to several months.
- Children: dosage is determined individually, depending on age, body weight and clinical situation.
Mecobalamin is the active coenzyme form of vitamin B₁₂, used in the treatment of various neurological and hematological disorders.
Indications for Use:
- Pernicious Anemia.
- Megaloblastic Anemia caused by vitamin B₁₂ deficiency.
- Diabetic and Alcoholic Polyneuropathy.
- Trigeminal Neuralgia.
- Down Syndrome.
- Infantile Cerebral Palsy.
- Peripheral Nerve Injuries.
Contraindications:
- Known hypersensitivity to mecobalamin or any other components of the drug.
- Erythremia, erythrocytosis, or thromboembolism.
Side Effects:
- Allergic Reactions:
- Skin rash, pruritus (itching), urticaria (hives).
- Cardiovascular System:
- Tachycardia, chest pain (pain in the heart area).
- Nervous System:
- Headache, dizziness, agitation.
- Other:
- Diarrhea, hypercoagulability when used in high doses.
Special Instructions:
- Monitoring Blood Parameters:
- Regular monitoring of peripheral blood parameters is recommended during prolonged use.
- Drug Interactions:
- Mecobalamin may enhance allergic reactions caused by thiamine.
