Active ingredient

Levofloxacin is the left-handed isomer of ofloxacin, which has pronounced antibacterial activity.

Dosage
  • Adults: the standard dose is 250-500 mg 1-2 times a day, depending on the severity of infection and sensitivity of the pathogen.
  • Duration of treatment: usually from 7 to 14 days, determined by a doctor depending on the clinical situation.

Tablets are taken orally, drinking enough water, regardless of meals.


Lasvic

Lasvic is the trade name for a medication containing the active ingredient levofloxacin, a synthetic antibacterial agent from the fluoroquinolone group. Levofloxacin has a broad spectrum of activity and is used to treat various bacterial infections.

Indications for Use:

  1. Respiratory Tract Infections:
    • Sinusitis.
    • Bronchitis.
    • Community-acquired pneumonia.
  2. Urinary Tract Infections:
    • Acute pyelonephritis.
    • Cystitis.
  3. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections.
  4. Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis.
  5. Intra-abdominal Infections.

Contraindications:

  • Known hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or other fluoroquinolones.
  • Epilepsy.
  • History of tendon disorders (e.g., tendonitis or tendon rupture) associated with prior fluoroquinolone use.
  • Use in pediatric patients and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Side Effects:

  1. Gastrointestinal:
    • Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
  2. Nervous System:
    • Headache, dizziness, insomnia, anxiety.
  3. Allergic Reactions:
    • Skin rash, pruritus (itching), angioedema.
  4. Musculoskeletal System:
    • Tendonitis, tendon rupture (rare).
  5. Cardiovascular System:
    • Tachycardia, hypotension (low blood pressure).

Special Instructions:

  • Use with caution in patients with central nervous system disorders predisposing to seizures.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet (UV) radiation during treatment and for 48 hours after its completion due to the risk of photosensitization.
  • Discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider immediately if symptoms of tendinitis (pain or swelling in the tendon area) develop.
  • Before starting Lasvic, consult a healthcare professional to assess the suitability of treatment and determine the optimal dosage. Self-medication is strongly discouraged and may result in adverse outcomes.
