Annostusmuoto
- Silmätipat: 0,5-prosenttinen liuos 5 ml:n muovisissa tippapulloissa.
- Pakkaus: 10 pulloa, kukin 5 ml.

Aktiivinen ainesosa

Annostus

Overview:
Thymoptol contains timolol, a beta-blocker used to reduce intraocular pressure in various forms of glaucoma.
Indications for Use
- Open-Angle Glaucoma:
First-line treatment to lower intraocular pressure. - Ocular Hypertension:
To prevent optic nerve damage. - Secondary Glaucoma:
For selected cases, based on physician evaluation.
Contraindications
Respiratory Disorders:
- Bronchial asthma.
- Severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Cardiovascular Disorders:
- Sinus bradycardia.
- Second- or third-degree atrioventricular block.
- Uncontrolled heart failure.
- Cardiogenic shock.
Allergic Reactions:
- Hypersensitivity to timolol or any components of the formulation.
Side Effects
Local Reactions:
- Burning, itching, or redness of the eye.
- Increased tearing or dry eyes.
Systemic Reactions:
- Central Nervous System: Headache, dizziness.
- Cardiovascular System: Bradycardia, decreased blood pressure.
- Respiratory System: Bronchospasm, especially in susceptible individuals.
Special Instructions
Patients with Cardiovascular Diseases:
- Regular monitoring is required to detect any exacerbation of symptoms.
Diabetes Mellitus:
- Timolol can mask symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as rapid heartbeat. Diabetic patients should use with caution.
Contact Lens Use:
- Remove contact lenses before instilling the drops.
- Wait at least 15 minutes after application before reinserting lenses.
Pediatric and Geriatric Use:
- Use with caution; dose adjustments may be necessary.
Consultation Required
Before starting Thymoptol:
- Consult an ophthalmologist to determine the appropriateness of therapy and to establish the correct dosage.
- Self-medication is not advised as timolol may lead to serious adverse effects, particularly in individuals with pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular conditions.
