Active ingredient
Levofloxacin is the left-handed isomer of ofloxacin, which has pronounced antibacterial activity.
Dosage
- Adults: the standard dose is 250-500 mg 1-2 times a day, depending on the severity of infection and sensitivity of the pathogen.
- Duration of treatment: usually from 7 to 14 days, determined by a doctor depending on the clinical situation.
- Tablets are taken orally, drinking enough water, regardless of meals.
Lasvic is the trade name of the drug containing the active substance levofloxacin, which is a synthetic antibacterial agent from the group of fluoroquinolones. Levofloxacin has a wide spectrum of action and is used for the treatment of various bacterial infections.
Indications for use:
- Infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract: sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia.
- Infections of the urinary tract: acute pyelonephritis, cystitis.
- Infections of the skin and soft tissues.
- Chronic bacterial prostatitis.
- Intraabdominal infections.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or other fluoroquinolones.
- Epilepsy.
- Tendon lesions associated with a history of taking fluoroquinolones.
- Childhood and adolescence under 18 years of age.
- Pregnancy and period of breastfeeding.
Side effects:
- GI side: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
- Nervous system: headache, dizziness, insomnia, anxiety.
- Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, angioedema.
- Musculoskeletal system: tendonitis, tendon rupture (rare).
- Cardiovascular system: tachycardia, decrease in blood pressure.
Special instructions:
- Use with caution in patients with diseases of the central nervous system predisposing to seizures.
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and UV radiation during treatment and for 48 hours after its completion due to the risk of photosensitization.
- If symptoms of tendinitis (pain, swelling in the tendon area) appear, stop taking the drug and consult a physician.
